Climate change.

Climate is the prevailing weather conditions in a particular area.

Climate change due to global warming may force species such as the American beech to move to higher latitudes, at a rate of 7-9 km per year (if climate warms 6.5°C over next century).

This is much higher than the 0.2 km per year it migrated since the end of the ice age.
